This exceptionally rare 15 Year Old Bourbon comes from the celebrated 400-barrel parcel distilled in the spring of 1974 at Pennco Distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania, the historic distillery later known as Michters. Commissioned by former Schenley executive Adolph H. Hirsch, the whiskey remained in Pennsylvania for 15 years before becoming the foundation of the legendary A.H. Hirsch releases.
Bottled on February 26, 1990 at 95.6 proof, this Japanese-market edition features the original-style block-letter label, elegant Cognac-shaped bottle, and distinctive gold wax closure. These early block-letter bottles preceded the better-known script-label and 16-year-old releases, making them among the earliest and most elusive expressions of the historic 1974 Hirsch whiskey.
More than a rare vintage bourbon, this is a foundational artifact of modern American whiskey collecting: an early bottling from the Pennsylvania-distilled batch that established A.H. Hirsch as one of the most revered names in collectible bourbon.
