Balblair 18 Year Old is a Northern Highland single malt from one of Scotlands oldest distilleries established in 1790 near Edderton, Ross-shire presenting 18 years of predominantly American oak maturation that produces the most developed and complex expression in the Balblair standard range, with the distillerys characteristic tropical fruit and smooth coastal character at full maturity.
Balblair transitioned from vintage-dated to age-stated releases in 2019. The 18-year is the apex of the current standard range, above the 12 and 15-year expressions, drawing on American oak ex-bourbon casks for primary maturation with the extended aging producing deep vanilla, dried fruit, and a creamy, velvety texture that is the signature of mature Balblair. Three additional years of American oak maturation produces noticeably more concentrated vanilla and caramel, richer fruit integration, and a longer, deeper finish. The 18-year is the most complete and complex expression in the current Balblair range.
