Sequitur (Latin, meaning “followed by”) is a vineyard privately owned by Michael G. Etzel and Carey Critchlow; a 12-acre site directly adjacent to Beaux Frres Upper Terrace vineyard. Sequitur is unique in its diverse collection of 17 distinct Pinot Noir clones, and is farmed following many biodynamic principles, allowing native ground cover to flourish. The vines also grow happily alongside Carey’s bee hives – colonies nourished by edge rows of flowering herbs, namesakes of the Lavender Block (planted in 2012) and Rosemary Block (planted in 2013). This is the sixth vintage of the Beaux Frres Sequitur Pinot Noir.
Critical Acclaim

A cascade of violet and lavender florals gives way to blackberries, hints of wet stone and flowery underbrush as the 2022 Pinot Noir Sequitur Vineyard blossoms in the glass. This is vividly fresh and cool-toned in feel, with depths of ripe wild berry fruit that add a tart concentration towards the close. Zesty acidity maintains tremendous freshness despite the 2022s tannic heft, finishing dramatically long and full of tension. There’s an energy and vibrancy here that I find wildly attractive.
