BenRiach The Sixteen is the premium age-stated single malt from BenRiach Distillery in Longmorn, Speyside 16 years of multi-cask maturation (ex-bourbon American oak, Oloroso sherry, and Pedro Ximnez casks) producing the most complex and developed expression in the current BenRiach standard range, bottled at 43% ABV.
The Sixteen builds on the multi-cask philosophy that defines the BenRiach range at 16 years the combined contribution of bourbon, Oloroso, and PX casks has had significant time to integrate, producing a balanced and layered Speyside single malt with both oak-derived vanilla and sherry-derived dried fruit and spice character. Four additional years of the same multi-cask (bourbon, Oloroso, PX) maturation produces noticeably more concentration, deeper dried fruit and spice integration, and a longer and more complex finish. The Sixteen is the premium step up in the current BenRiach standard range.
No The Sixteen is an unpeated expression. BenRiach produces both peated (The Smoky Ten, Smoky Twelve) and unpeated expressions. The Sixteen is in the unpeated lineup.
