This is the current label (The Smoky Ten) for what was previously called Curiositas. The expression uses heavily peated malt at approximately 3540 PPM through BenRiachs multi-cask maturation program (ex-bourbon, virgin oak) to produce a distinctively Speyside-influenced peated character. Moderately peated by Islay standards approximately 3540 PPM versus Ardbegs 55 PPM. The Speyside terroir and production approach produce a different smoke character than coastal Islay: more earthy and heathery, less medicinal and maritime.
