The palate is silky, with cassis and bilberry notes alongside more juice-filled, textured blackberry notes. Its ambitiously structured, with plenty of cocoa, dark chocolate and pencil shavings. A serious wine with high acidity that should age well. They have gone long on the tannins this year, but they are integrated and this is ready to drink with an hour decant. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Clos Manou is a Bordeaux wine estate producing a pair of red wines under the Mdoc AOP. The eponymous grand vin tends to feature significant percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon; the second wine, Petit Manou, is usually more Merlot-dominated.
Francoise and Stphane Dief produced just 600 bottles of their first vintage, the 1998, from 0.12 hectares (0.3 acres) of vines, using their garage as the bottle cellar. In order to develop their own vineyard holdings they also built a parallel business managing wine estates.
