Domaine de Ferrand is a leading producer in the southern Rhne with vineyards in both the appellations of Chteauneuf-du-Pape and Ctes-du-Rhne. The core parts of the domaine can be traced back to 1760, and the Bravay family have owned it since the 19th Century. The first wines were only bottled in 1997, when Philippe Bravay took over, ending the supply to a ngociant and cooperatives.

The 2012 Chteauneuf du Pape is jaw-dropping good! Made from 92% Grenache and the rest a mix of permitted varieties, aged all in concrete tank, it boasts fabulous notes of truffles, damp earth, wild herbs and both kirsch and darker berry fruit. Full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and even voluptuous, it covers the mouth with fruit, has sweet tannin and a hard-to-resist personality. Drink this beauty over the coming decade or longer. Enough cant be said about the quality coming from this tiny estate, and proprietor Philippe Bravey is fashioning one of the top traditionally made Chteauneuf du Papes out there.
