This wonderful Montagny is fairly restrained on the nose but the palate is beautifully poised with a terrific balance of rich, ripe fruit and perfectly poised acidity.
Domaine Berthenet is a family-run domaine on the hillsides in Montagny, currently led by Franois Berthenet who took the reigns from his father Jean-Pierre in 2009. The family has been growing grapes for approximately four centuries but it wasnt until 1974 that they purchased their first hectares to plant parcels of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The domaine has 20 hectares of sustainably farmed vines on clay and limestone soils, which especially gives tension and weight to their whites.
