Grey Goose is a brand of vodka produced in France. It is widely accepted as the first of the superpremium vodkas and in 1998 was named as the best tasting vodka in the world by the Beverage Testing Institute.
The company was founded two years previously by US importer Sidney Frank, who was seeking to develop a luxury vodka for the American market. Frank chose France due to its culinary history and lack of directly-competing vodkas from that country.
