The Cream of Kentucky name revives a historic pre-Prohibition bourbon brand, with Rutledge’s own production credentials lending the revival significant credibility.
Jim Rutledge spent 44 years at Four Roses, serving as master distiller for 20 of them and overseeing the distillery’s revival as a premium single barrel and limited release producer. His independent J.W. Rutledge venture drew on aged Kentucky bourbon stocks to produce expressions under the historic Cream of Kentucky label. At 11.5 years, this expression represents meaningful age from a genuinely credentialed sourcing program.
Nose: Caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak with fruit and warm spice. Palate: Smooth and round butterscotch, vanilla, dried fruit, integrated oak. Finish: Medium-long and clean.
