Jameson Cooper’s Croze is the cooper’s expression in the Whiskey Makers Series created by Ger Buckley, a fifth-generation Head Cooper at Midleton, who hand-selected three distinct wood types to demonstrate the profound influence that cask selection has on flavor: virgin oak for bold structure, seasoned bourbon barrels for sweetness and vanilla, and sherry casks for dried fruit and warmth, producing a more wood-forward and complex Jameson than any of the range’s other expressions.

The cooper’s role is often invisible in whiskey production but Cooper’s Croze makes it impossible to ignore. Ger Buckley’s selection of virgin oak, seasoned bourbon, and sherry casks, and the specific way in which the Midleton spirit interacts differently with each over maturation, produces distinct notes of bold oak structure from the virgin casks, rich ripe fruit and sweet vanilla from the seasoned bourbon barrels, and stirring spices from the sherry component. The three wood types produce a whiskey that is more about the barrel than the distillery a rare expression in a range otherwise led by distillation character.

  • Finish: Bold and wood-led with lingering spice and dried fruit
