This Blue Label primarily comes from the ghost distillery of Pittyvaich. It closed in 1993 after just 19 years, its known as one of the shortest-lived distilleries in Scotland. But in that time, its whiskies became loved around the world.
The fourth in this much talked about limited edition series, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Pittyvaich, draws on rare casks from the legendary Speyside ghost distillery of Pittyvaich, a hidden treasure of the whisky world, which closed its doors in 1993 after only 19 years.
Honed our craft into a precision process that respects the many elements shaping a Scotch Whiskys final flavor and character, including the types of grains and yeast used, the shape of the still, and the length of time its matured in the cask.
Sweet fruit notes of fresh apple, beautifully balanced with the delicate subtle sweetness of honeycomb and soft wood from the “ghost” whiskies of Port Dundas and Carsebridge. A rich mahogany, aromas of dark fruit and berries, gentle butterscotch, stewing orchard fruits and a dash of cinnamon. The idea behind this series was to see how some of our rarest whiskies could be reawakened.
