Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown was established in 1872, closed in 1925, and was revived in 2004 by the Mitchell family (owners of Springbank) as part of the effort to restore Campbeltowns historic distilling heritage. Kilkerran is the Glengyle single malt its name derived from the Old Norse Ceann Loch Cill Chiarain (the original Gaelic name for Campbeltown). The 8-year Sherry Cask Matured presents the young Kilkerran character with the full influence of sherry cask maturation providing sweetness and dried fruit depth to the Campbeltown maritime base.
