Created in 1974 exactly 100 years after the original Cristal. Biodynamic Grand Cru Pinot Noir from A. One of the most refined Ros Champagnes in existence.

Louis Roederer has been producing Champagne since 1776 one of the oldest family-owned houses in the region. Cristal itself was created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia and has been one of the world’s most prestigious Champagnes ever since. In 1974, a century after the original Cristal was conceived, the house introduced Cristal Ros a distinct cuve using old-vine Pinot Noir from their own estate vineyards at A, one of the finest Grand Cru villages in Champagne.

What sets Cristal Ros apart from most prestige ros Champagnes is the biodynamic farming approach and the specific terroir of the A vineyard. The calcareous clay soil produces a Pinot Noir with exceptional mineral depth, and the biodynamic principles no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, lunar cycle-guided farming allow that terroir to express itself with unusual precision. The result is a Ros with genuine complexity and a crystalline acidity that separates it from the more opulent, fruit-forward ross in the prestige tier.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Delicate rose-gold with fine, persistent bubbles and an elegant mousse.
  • Aroma: Fresh red berries, citrus zest, wild strawberry, and a distinctive mineral quality from the calcareous A terroir.
  • Palate: Elegant and complex ripe strawberry, raspberry, subtle brioche, and a crystalline acidity that balances the fruit beautifully.
  • Finish: Long and refreshing fruit and acidity in perfect harmony, with a mineral note that persists through the close.
