Malfy’s Con Arancia is made at Torino Distillati using the same vacuum distillation method as their other expressions: the Sicilian blood orange peels are infused with Italian juniper in Italian grain spirit for 36 hours, then combined with five additional botanicals before distillation in a stainless-steel vacuum still. The use of vacuum distillation which operates at much lower temperatures than traditional distillation preserves the volatile aromatic compounds of the blood orange that would otherwise be destroyed by heat, resulting in a gin whose citrus character is vivid, authentic, and distinctly Italian.

The Sicilian blood oranges used in Con Arancia are a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) product their distinctive flavor develops during the cool Mediterranean nights of Sicily, when temperature fluctuation drives anthocyanin pigment development in the flesh. Blood oranges have a deeper, more complex citrus character than sweet navel oranges, with notes of berry, pomegranate, and a pleasing bitterness that gives Con Arancia its balance.
