Nobu x KAWS by QUI Limited Edition The Red Bottle Edition is a 25-year-old tequila distilled in 1999 released to celebrate the Nobu Restaurant Group’s 30th anniversary, in collaboration with artist KAWS whose signature visual language adorns the presentation, limited to 1,650 units worldwide, aged in oak barrels then rested in stainless steel tanks for final polish, producing the cherry, honey, toffee, and dried orange complexity that a quarter-century of tequila maturation achieves.
QUI Tequila specializes in ultra-aged, collector-grade expressions that treat tequila as a fine spirits collectible comparable to vintage cognac or rare Scotch. The 1999 distillation date makes this genuinely 25-year-old spirit exceptionally rare in the tequila category where most expressions are aged 15 years. The stainless steel tank resting after oak aging allows the spirit to integrate and clarify without further wood extraction the complexity is already present from the oak; the tank rest provides a finishing environment that settles the spirit. KAWS’s involvement adds the gallery-collectible dimension: the deep red, velvet-like box with oversized NOBU lettering and KAWS’s iconic X eyes makes the presentation as significant as the spirit.
