2019 was an atypical year in the Douro Valley, with a winter with high temperatures and rainy followed by a fresh and also very rainy spring. Summer as usual was warm and dry, but with the particularity of very cool nights, with great thermal amplitude between day and night, which preserved the natural acidity of the grape, giving rise to very balanced musts. A challenging year in the viticulture, which was the first year of conversion to organic production in the Quinta da Carolina.
Quinta da Carolina 2019 is a wine with a little extracted profile, we look for the elegance and freshness that an old vineyard exposure to the north can give us. Open ruby color, shallow, with herbal notes combined with fresh fruit on the nose, deep and persistent in the mouth with the Douro characteristics very present and notes of wooden stage. A wine to enjoy as young, but with clear aging ability. Advisable for decanting.
