Rhum J.M. is produced at Habitation Bellevue, an estate distillery on Martinique’s northernmost tip in the Macouba district, at the base of Montagne Pele an active volcano whose nutrient-rich lava soils create the distinctive mineral quality that J.M.’s rhums are known for. Founded over 160 years ago, the estate operates under the AOC Martinique Rhum Agricole designation, distilling exclusively from freshly pressed sugarcane juice grown on the volcanic soils of Habitation Bellevue.

The XO Tres Vieux (“Very Old”) represents the ceiling of the J.M. range and one of the finest aged rhums agricoles from Martinique. Where J.M.’s younger expressions the Blanc, Gold, VO, and VSOP show progressively more wood integration, the XO achieves the full convergence of Martinique sugarcane character and extended bourbon barrel aging: the volcanic terroir and agricultural freshness of the cane remain clearly present beneath the layers of toasted nut, tropical fruit, and spice that decades of re-charred bourbon barrel aging create.
