This is a new Solera system rum from the Dominican Republic. Produced from fresh cane juice and molasses harvested on a single estate, Ron Atlantico emulates the Cuban style rum. The master blender worked for many years at the Cuban classic Havana Club and creates this rum 100% by hand. The complex three step process starts with heavy and light rums being aged seperately for three years. They are then married in one cask for another 2 years. These casks are then added to a 15 year average Solera system. Nose shows toffee, vanilla, cacao, and oak spice. Wood and intense spice are balanced by a light maple syrup sweetness. Strong Vanilla bean on the palate. Atlantico received best Solera Rum at 2010 UK Rumfest, which is the world’s largest rum competition. Another very highly rated solera for a great price.
