At 25 years the American oak maturation has produced a whisky of considerable depth and integration for Tomintouls characteristically light and gentle style vanilla, honey, and dried fruit have developed fully while the distillerys clean, fresh character remains present. Tomintoul is known as the Gentle Dram consistently producing one of the lightest, cleanest, and most approachable Speyside single malts. The mountain water from the Cairngorms and the distillerys production approach produce a naturally delicate spirit without the heavy oak or sherry influence of some Speyside distilleries.
Nine and four additional years of American oak maturation respectively produce noticeably more concentration, deeper vanilla and honey integration, and a longer more complex finish. At 25 years the gentle Tomintoul character reaches its most developed and mature form.
