A pioneer in the renewal of Condrieu, Domaine Georges Vernay has always made wines of unique style, notable for their finesse, elegance and harmony. The property has become a major emblem of Rhone Valley winegrowing, from the time when Georges Vernay saved the Condrieu appellation to the international awards earned by Christine Vernays Cote-Rotie. Three generations have left the mark of the philosophy on the estate, while perpetuating its traditions in the greatest respect for both vines and winegrowers.
One of the most iconic estates in the Northern Rhone, Christine Vernay took over the property some twenty years ago from her father (who saved the Condrieu appellation) and grandfather who created the estate. Now certified organic, they make some of the best wines the region has to offer. The ” Georges Vernay Condrieu Terrasses de l’Empire” is what Christine calls the “archetypal fruity wine” showing the charm, elegance and exuberance of Viognier and the Condrieu region. The grapes are all hand harvested, from vines with an average age of 35 years. After fermentation, it is aged for 8 months in a mix of wooden vats and barrels. A benchmark for Condrieu.
