Vicario Quina Liquur is produced by Renato Vicario and Janette Wesley using organically grown botanicals from their farms in Tuscany, Italy and South Carolina, USA. A quina liqueur built around cinchona bark the source of quinine, the bittering agent in tonic water and traditional aperitifs combined with other herbs and botanicals at 25% ABV.
Cinchona bark gives quina-style liqueurs their characteristic bitter, slightly medicinal character. Vicarios farm-to-bottle approach growing and sourcing botanicals from their own organic farms on both sides of the Atlantic distinguishes this from commercial liqueur producers who source commodity botanicals. The trans-Atlantic farming operation also means seasonal and regional variation in the botanical character.
