The Spirit of Mauve is finished in Calvados casks: French apple brandy barrels from Normandy that impart a distinctive apple sweetness and delicate French oak character to the already powerful 13-year straight rye base.

The result is exactly what WhistlePig describes: a unique blend of American rye power and French sophistication. The high-rye mashbill brings bold grain spice and structure; the Calvados finish layers apple, pear, and a subtle brandy richness over the top. There is nothing else quite like it in the American rye whiskey category.

Each bottle is hand-bottled at WhistlePig Farm in Shoreham, Vermont. The packaging a coffin-shaped box is as distinctive as the whiskey inside.
