Coming in hot with her first solo vintage, P&V alumni, wine enthusiast (yes she was the one who would keep talking to you about wine as you were leaving the shop) and now WINE MAKER, the one and only Mem Hemmings has gone and made the drink of summer and we could not be happier it has landed.
This light refreshing red made for drinking chilledcome in in handy 250ml sized cans. One large glass or two more humble portions if you are a good sharer. Cans are such lightweight packaging so you can take it to the park, bush walking, houseparties, the cinema oh so much more easily. Infinitely recyclable we think that wine in a can has a great place in our future and yours!
This wine is actually 50% direct press ros shiraz with 50% sauvignon that spent 16 days on skins. So ros/orangey type liquid. I added fresh fruit to an already finished wine, much to the bemusement of my coworkers and myself! The joys of being creative and uninhibited by wine making laws. Anyway the only real redness in this wine came from the second use cabernet skins, left over from another wine I was making. HOW FUN.
Drinking, a lot like the lightest chilled red around. Maybe surprisingly this wine has a lot of cabernet aromas and flavours for saying that component was only used like a flavour infuser! Bright, forest fruit forward with that ever identifiable stemmy herbaceousness of the cab sav, sav blanc varieties.
