A. Smith Bowman Distillery was founded in 1935 in Sunset Hills, Virginia and relocated to Fredericksburg in 1988 one of the oldest distilleries on the East Coast and one of very few Virginia bourbon producers. The Cask Strength program is the apex of Bowman’s production: individual batches of Virginia straight bourbon bottled at natural barrel proof without dilution or filtration.

Batch 3 at 135.1 proof is between the Batch 2 (144.5 proof the most extreme batch in the series) and a more typical cask-strength proof point. At 135.1, Batch 3 delivers the full intensity of Virginia straight bourbon at barrel strength while being slightly more approachable than Batch 2’s extraordinary 144.5.
