Angels Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon is finished in port wine casks for an award-winning spirit. We guide each batchs conditioning, blending our handcrafted bourbon in small batches of 8 to 12 barrels at a time.

Its typically aged for up to 6 years. While we lose about 5% of the spirit each year to evaporation, or the Angels Share, whats left behind after were done is truly worthy of envy.

Once its deemed ready, we finish our bourbon in ruby port wine casks, which adds subtly distinct flavor nuances that enhance the whiskey without challenging it. Our port finishing process lasts between three to six months, depending on taste.

We use 60-gallon ruby port barrels made from French oak and imported directly from Portugal. This creates a whiskey of unprecedented smoothness, sweetness and balance

Angel’s Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon is Lincoln Henderson’s final masterpiece the legendary Brown-Forman master distiller’s last great creation before his passing in 2013, a Kentucky straight bourbon finished in ruby port wine barrels that adds ripe berry fruits, candied tangerine, and maple sweetness to the classic straight bourbon foundation, producing one of the most widely acclaimed port-finished American whiskeys ever made.

Lincoln Henderson spent decades at Brown-Forman creating some of America’s most celebrated whiskeys before founding Angel’s Envy with his son Wes in 2011. The port barrel finishing program was his defining creative decision: after selecting quality Kentucky straight bourbon as the base, Henderson identified port wine barrels as the finishing vessel that adds the most complex and complementary character to bourbon’s existing vanilla, caramel, and oak framework the berry fruit, tannin structure, and wine-like sweetness of port enriching the bourbon without obscuring it. The name refers to the angel’s share the portion of barrel-aging whiskey that evaporates into the heavens reframed as something the angels themselves envy. Henderson passed away before the brand became the phenomenon it is today, but his fingerprint is in every bottle.
