Its fresh and velvety aromas of red berries make this a charming wine, but it needs three years in the cellar to tame its power. Les Chanlins is located above and beside Les Rugiens, closer to the village of Volnay than to Pommard itself. It is a steeply sloping rocky plot producing a tense, mineral wine with very noble tannins.

After six years at a wine school and with a wealth of experience in viticulture and winemaking from around the world, Romaric brings a new face to the estate. Solely at the helm since 2006, he watches over the 15 hectares of vines with rigor. Proud of his roots, he balances rigor, tradition, and innovation.
Les Chanlins is a Premier Cru vineyard at the very southern end of the Pommard commune in Burgundy. Located on the steeper slopes of the Cote d’Or, the rocky vineyard is well suited to Pinot Noir, making a structured, full-bodied red wine with some spiciness.
Soils in Les Chanlins Bas are not dissimilar to those in Rugiens: that is, rocky and shallow with hard limestone underneath. There is slightly more clay in this vineyard, however, and high levels of iron, which ultimately contribute to the firm structure of the wines. The mineral-rich clay is also credited for imparting minerality to Les Chanlins Premier Cru wines.
