Vignobles Levet has deep roots in Cte-Rtie, beginning in 1936 when Nicole Levets grandfather acquired vineyard holdings near Ampuis. The family began estate bottling in 1966, with Bernard and Nicole taking full control in the early 1980s, eventually passing the reins to their daughter Agns in 2004. Today, they farm 3.5 hectares across some of the appellations most prized lieux-dits, using traditional methods like whole-cluster fermentation and aging in old oak.

Released under the Peroline name in Europe, the 2022 Cte Rtie La Chavaroche comes from the Chavaroche lieu-dit and is not destemmed. It’s vinified all in stainless steel and spends a year in foudre, followed by a year in demi-muids. Red plums, blackberries, iron, bloody blue fruits, pepper, and rose petal notes all emerge from this incredibly complex, full-bodied Cte Rtie. It has beautiful overall balance, tons of tannins, a good sense of freshness, and outstanding length. Hide bottles for a solid decade and enjoy over the following two decades. Drink 2035-2055.

Known outside the USA as La Proline, it possesses a firm, slightly austere character wrapped in a singular, sappy texture that seamlessly blends density and charm.
